Why did Motorola switch the bottom buttons on the Droid?

I don't understand why Motorola changed the Droid's bottom navigation buttons around on the Droid 2 when the original made more sense. It's like they decided to rip off HTC's layout when the Incredible got popular. The Droid is still the best-selling Android phone ever, so why change the most basic buttons on it? The cancel button on the left makes more sense because transitions come in from the left when you cancel. The menu and home buttons are interchangeable, but why change them? The search button made sense on the right just because it's easy and it's not on the left.

I honestly have no idea...it takes like 5 minutes of use to adjust to a new phone so I never thought about it

All the Android phones up to the D1 had that layout. From the next round on its had the current layout. I think its an Android thing more than just one manufacturer. They are all going away in the next couple generations anyways.
