Why does 3G hotspot turn off bluetooth?

I just started using the 3G Hotspot feature of my droid X, but i'm wondering why it automatically turns bluetooth off? I understand the hotspot consumes ALOT of power, but i'd still like to have the option of leaving bluetooth off (provide wifi for my car PC while my phone is connected to bluetooth for calls).

Perhaps an app could keep bluetooth on during hotspot operation?
