Why is my LED notification light so dim???

My Droid is only a few months old but my led notification light has gotten so dim that it is not even noticeable in daylight...you need to go into a pitch black room to even see that its blinking. Can you fix it/can the light burn out? Help please!

I noticed when I first get a text my LED is very bright then it will dim a second later.
