Why is the facebook app so buggy?

Is fb known for poor function on Android in general?
Is it certain versions of Android (no improvement from GB since going to ICS)?
Is it certain versions of the fb app?
Is it the phone (i.e. Bionic)?
Is it something to do with the network connection?

I just don't remember these frequent bugs with my iPhone. Thanks for your input.

The facebook app just sucks & always has. All the updates they do & it doesn't get any better.
You would think that a company that is strictly about social media would get there act together on the mobile phone app.
I cant think of a better way to drive there company with more clicks & useage than with a awesome mobile app.
I guess they just dont get it. Go figure !!!!!!!

Ha ha, for sometime they were thinking of entering the smartphone device market, too! Bummer as apps are meant to provide a more fluid experience than browsers in certain cases.

It's because rather then make a native app for the phone, they decided to essentially make a web portal in an app.

They admitted it is not a good design, and want to fix it, but as of yet...

Exactly. Two things have happened recently.

First the powers that be at FB went to the mobile department and told them that they had to use their crappy mobile app all the time. They could not access facebook at all any other way. They were forced to use their own junk all the time. There was a news story about that somewhere...sorry can't find the link.

That got the mobile departments attention. They just released an whole new system for creating apps for FB.....they are embracing the outside developers 100 percent now and helping them. So it will get better but it will take a bit.

I haven't really noticed the Facebook app being so bad. I'm using one of the JB leaks as my daily driver, so I don't know if that matters one way or another. I just installed "Fast for Facebook" as recommended by a previous post and I'm thinking I like it. Trying to decide if I want to drop a buck fifty for it. I know. I'm cheap.

The FB app for Android has always been very slow, but since the ICS upgrade, it's worse than it's even been.

True, I've been opening the app, press "Wait" when the error appears and then wait for it to open up. And I'm treating it like it was normal to do that.

I'm going to try the free version that BigggJack mentioned and will buy it if it works. I take it the pro version isn't ad supported.

UPDATE: Fast For Facebook is pretty cool, but I haven't figured out how to access my groups.

ANOTHER UPDATE: Found it by hitting the "Star" icon

YET ANOTHER UPDATE: From another thread I'm trying Friendcaster. Great app as well. I'm giving all a test. The one flaw with Friendcaster is that one picture on a friend's timeline didn't come up, but it did sent me to FB itself where I could see it. Fast For Facebook and the FB app showed it correctly. Friendcaster is about $4.99 (only $2.50 today) whereas Fast For Facebook is $1.49 if you want to run ad free.
