why is the green light flashing?

there is a green light at the top right corner of the phone that keeps flashing. i don't have any new e-mail or calls. it is driving me crazy!

If you have beautiful widgets with weather notifications enabled it will do that

Is there nothing at all showing in the notifications area (top left corner)? Usually if it's flashing you've got a notification of some sort.

If there are icons there, swipe down to "open" the notifications bar.
