I downloaded it over a recommendation from someone here and frankly, whats the big deal? Why am I using this over the regular SMS on the Droid? I have had issues with GO SMS Pro and wanted to know what was so special about it that people like/choose it over the SMS program?

Its got some nice features but i ditched it because it seemed to slow my phone down quite a bit

I have a D2G. I once had an issue when a sent message got stuck in qeue. (kay not sure on spelling) my phone kept sending me a notification for an undelivered message. So I earased all my messages. The notification kept coming back as soon as I cleared it. Even a reboot didn't clear it. I had to download handcent sms because you can't view qeue'd messages on the stock app on this phone. I downloaded, selected view qeue'd messages, and therre it was. The undelivered message that shouldn't have been there in the first place. I deleted it, and have used handcent ever since.

What is handsent? What does it do that SMS and GO SMS dont do?

I like being able to theme my messaging app to make it look better, handcent let's me do that. It also has some other capabilities like being able to set the color of my led notification light, and what's called a privacy box. Another cool function that I don't personally use is the option of pop-up txts. When you receive a txt, simply unlock your screen, and there is your new txt in a semi transparent window over your homescreen, you don't have to open the app to open and reply.
