Why wifi??

Can someone please tell me the
difference between using an internet browser on my droid x which is always internet available....and the use of wifi? Thanks everyone for your help.

Are you asking the difference between using 3g and wifi? If so, wifi has faster data transfer and saves more battery than 3g.

Do you suggest that I leave wifi "on"? Will it automatically stay connected? I have free optimum wifi but don't know how to use it on droid.....can you please help me?

Turn your wifi on and then go to settings /wireless and networks /wifi settings and then connect to your wifi network.

Thank you for your help. Just 1 more question....Will droid automatically use wi fi when in range of one and then auto use 3g when not? In other words is this wifi something that requires monitoring, turning on and off, etc or is it seamless and once turned on and left on I can forget about it?

Wifi scanning will drain your battery when not in range so it's a good idea to turn wifi off when you are not using it.
