Wi-Fi Bands Question

OK....here's my problem. I have the Maxx on which I want to use wi-fi and I have a Samsung TV on which I want to use wifi to stream movies.

If I set my wireless router to 2.4GHz my Maxx picks up the wi-fi, but the TV works sometimes and not others.

If I set my wireless router to 5GHz then my Maxx doesn't pick up the wi-fi, but the TV works perfectly.

Is there some way to make the Maxx see the wi-fi when it's set to 5GHz?

2.4GHz is used for 802.11n but 5Ghz ia also used.
Most phones support 802.11a,b,g,n but only on the 2.5GHz range.

Unfortunately the Maxx will never see 5GHz networks.
