wifi use

Does anyone elses 3G stay in the notification bar when using wifi. Before the latest update, mine would go away and now it stays on draining my battery much quicker. Does anyone know how to make the 3g radio turn of while on wifi like it did before...no I don't want to use smart actions as my 3G radio would not turn back on half the time. Any help would be appreciated.

The 3G radio doesn't turn off while on WIFI, and it never really did. It does disconnect while on WIFI, but now may show on the status bar, simply to tell you there is 3G service available and ready for when WIFI goes off. It doesn't consume any more power now than it did before the 3G showed while on WIFI, since it doesn't actually communicate with the towers unless WIFI goes off.
