I have a Droid X and want to copy files from one of the PC's on my home network. The Droid finds the network OK and even finds the IP address of the computer. But when I try to connect I get "Server is not reachable".
Hey i was wondering if you ever figured out how to connect to your shared files. I am having the same problem with my droid. The ip address of the computer is found but it tells me the server is not reachable. Any help would be great.
I am having this same problem between my Droid X running Froyo and my Windows 7 x64 Ultimate system... I am a network administrator and I have tried all the normal troubleshooting steps.
I have enabled all file sharing options in Windows 7, I have shared files to "Everyone", I have disabled Windows Firewall and antivirus protection.
Nothing seems to fix it.
I do notice that I can access my home theatre PC fine... just not my main one... and they are both Windows 7 Ultimate edition.
One thing I notice is that my main computer has Windows 7 x64 (64 bit) and my HTPC is x86 (32 bit).
Let me know if you guys have 64 bit Windows 7 where you are seeing the "Server is not reachable".
I have no problem accessing my home network shared drives with es file explorer. Just go to lan tab and hit the search icon, it should find what's on you network
To elaborate im running linux on my server and two xp desktops and a windows 7 laptop. I have no problem connecting to any. I think I had to remove my user name on the 7 laptop and connect anonymous to read it
Yeah I do all kinds of sharing between windows xp and windows 7, including the PC's I've mentioned. Looks like maybe it is x64 related but that isn't confirmed at this point due to lack of sample size.
I just tried to connect to the 7 laptop, as it is not something I do often and now im getting denied....must have changed something since the last time. If I figure out what ill post...
Actually I must've done something to my Windows sharing to make the one PC unreachable. I reinstalled Windows 7 x64 for a unrelated reason, and now I can connect to the PC with no problem.
I had a problem like this too. I couldn't access my files on my DX or PS3. All I had to do was open windows media player, then at the top left click on stream. Select automatically allow devices to play my media. Now I can get to my things on all devices.
