Will 2.1 allow turning off the 4 screen buttons?

Anyone know? The only way my four screen buttons will turn off is to reboot and go straight to watching a movie. hate it when hose bright glaring buttons light up throughout a movie.

odd, the buttons lighting up doesn't really bother me, since the screen itself is lit up with video/movie. Maybe turn up the brightness?

I dunno if the 2.1 update will allow for that, but based on absolutely no sources, i wouldn't count on it, it doesn't seem like a big thing they need to focus on.

Highly unlikely, but if you are rooted, get the LEDs Hack app off the market.

I'm not rooted. A little too scary for my tastes. But, in any case, I watch a lot of movies on the Droid at night and when you have a movie like Blade Runner (which is mostly dark) those 4 buttons are really bright and distracting. Funny, I would have thought everyone found them annoying.
