Will insurance from VZW provide a new battery?

My Moto Droid's battery is dying. I pay for insurance from Verizon. Could I go in complaining of lower battery life and get a new battery for free under my insurance??

Note: I originally bought my phone on CL, had a problem and got a refurb from VZW at a discount. Would that effect my ability to get a new battery? I'm rooted too, I could unroot if they check but that would be a pain or just hide root apps and superuser app.

I'd say its not really worth the hassle when you can just get a new battery on Amazon for $5
