Hopefully this won;t be too confusing.

I have a Droid Inc2 on one line of a family plan(main line). I have an upgrade on a line that has a plain jane phone on it. If I apply the upgrade to my main line that has a data plan and get another droid(X2), then decided to switch back to my Inc2 on that line and just keep the X2 for a spare would they try and charge me for not sticking to the contract?

You can switch updates to different lines. Meaning if you have line A B C and D, and A is up for update, B, C and D can also get that upgrade, but you will have to keep that phone active, and pay for service to that phone reguardless of whether you use it or not.

Remember though, switch the upgrade to a different line FIRST, not transfer the phone after.
