Unbricking a device is often as simple as connecting it to your PC and flashing a stock image. What if your usb port is jacked up? For now there is no real way to fix your device. A recent commit to AOSP shows that allows users to send commands via network and not just through the usb port!
Eventually you may be able to connect to your device over wifi while in fastboot mode. You could then flash images to the device without the need for a cable! For now there is no phone with a bootloader that supports this on the market, but we may see this officially released around the time of Google I/O.
