Wireless Tether Problems

Good evening,

When I use wireless tethering (Which is pretty rare), my Droid (original Droid 1), will disconnect and reconnect from the 3G network. The 3G icon disappears for a few seconds and comes back on. And the problem is not isolated to wireless tether, it just becomes more prominent. I stream a *LOT* of internet radio at work, so this becomes annoying very quickly when the stream disconnects every 20 to 30 minutes. This problem is not affected by different kernels, different roms (including a rooted stock rom). It did the same thing when it was a pure stock phone. Is my phone defective or is this a problem others are seeing as well and it's something I just gotta become used to.

Any info you have would be greatly appreciated.

I see that a lot, and not just when I'm WiFi tethering -- USB tethering does it too, and once in a while it's even when I'm just working away. The problem is the data network in the area. I'm on a contract tower, NOT a Verizon tower atm, so I'm assuming that's what it's from.
