X Now or Wait for 2.2?

Ready to pick up an X, but not sure if I should just wait for 2.2.

Anyone know if when loading a major update (like going from 2.1 to 2.2) does it act like a hard reset that requires you to set apps, email, etc., back up again?

If I order now, then by the time it shows up it should only be a week or wait for the 2.2 release.

That's all based on what has been posted on the interwebs about the release of 2.2...and Al Gore wouldn't be wrong about the release date!!

I didn't want to wait. Mine is on order. I figure I will just lightly configure it to get me to 2.2 (got a lot of reading to do anyway) then dive in after the update.

Loading a new update is no big deal. Most settings are retained, though you may have to reset a few items.

updating to 2.2 from 2.1 should not affect your data, apps etc.

In line with what the 1st response said, you seem to know you want the phone. The way the phone is taking a week or two to arrive will probably not end for a month or so. Just order the phone and by the time you get it, 2.2 will probably be almost out and then you can have enough research as to how much modding you want to do to the phone and such.
