I have been using xmarks extension in my browsers for years. even have a link to it on my phone. for those who don't know it is a browser addon to sync your bookmarks and works in just about every browser no matter the operating system. It is usually the first extension I install in my browsers. BUT

after years of using is, firefox broke it recently with all of their changes. It quit working. even chrome had problems with it lately but as far as I can tell it was fixed. Lastpass decided to give up on it and will be shutting it down May 1.

anyway, the point of this post is I am in need of a new bookmark sync extension that works in all browsers. I do not want to use those that comes with the browsers. I want a thirdparty one that also has the bookmarks stored online. Anyone have any suggestions?

the following is an email I received

Xmarks update
On May 1, 2018, we will be shutting down Xmarks. Your account will remain active until then, including the syncing of your bookmarks. After that date, your bookmarks should remain in any previously accessed browser, but they will no longer sync and your account will be deactivated.

At LastPass, we’ve staked our claim in password management, and providing our community with a high level of password security. After careful consideration and evaluation, we have decided to discontinue the Xmarks service so that we can continue to focus on offering the best possible password vaulting to our community.

On behalf of the entire LastPass and Xmarks team, we wanted to thank you for your support over the years.

I don't like signing in to my browser and tend to use several browsers depending on my usage and the computer. xmarks was perfect since it worked in all the major browsers. I used it almost since the day it was originally released.

Same as Jonny, I use Chrome exclusively on all my devices so I don't have any advice. Hopefully one of our members has some useful advice.

I am getting closer using Chrome exclusively with all the problems firefox is starting to have with their extensions/addons.

I use Chrome on PC and have actually been using Samsungs Browser on my last 2 devices.... I don't have enough sites I visit on my phone anymore. I usually just end up typing in what I need.

Same here. The more I think about it, I don't really use many of my bookmarks. I'm usually following a link, or start typing & auto complete gets me there with a few key strokes.

Exactly! It's all links or app based.

Put linux on it. might run faster. I finally found a replacement for xmarks - eversync. seems to be working just as well as xmarks.

I think the processor is just dying or something. It runs EXTREMELY hot. I just replaced the HDD not that long ago. I used to dual boot with Linux for developing purposes and it wasn't much better.

if it is not the battery overheating, maybe replace the thermo paste on the cpu. it tends to go bad on laptops.
