XML File Too Large?

Ok, long story short. I gave my phone to my daughter and I am using another.

I tried using sms backup and restore to transfer my messages because there are some important legal ones I had to save.

I thought it would be easy. I just saved them and Bluetoothed them to me because file was too large to send any other way.

The I hit factory reset before I tried to open this file. I know, dumb idea.

So not I have this huge file and everything I try says it is too large to open?

Via phone.

I have a lap top?

Should I transfer from my phone to it?

What are you trying to do? View them or restore?

Yea you can open XML files with numerous apps for PC. IE natively will open them.

XML isn't hard to read but you will need to understand the schema.

I have used SMS Backup & Restore for a few years now. Here is what I normally do...take the saved SMS Backup & Restore file from the old phone and save it to your Google Drive account.

Install the SMS Backup & Restore app on the new phone.

Open the Google Drive app on the new phone. Download the backup file.

Open the SMS Backup Restore app on the new phone and select restore...then the backup file.

The app should do the rest, no need to open the XML file on a PC. Unless you want to read the messages in XML format.
