Google differentiated itself from Apple with the Tablet UI which was first introduced in Android 3.0 Honeycomb. This was pretty useful as 10" devices like the Motorola XOOM were much easier to use with the notificaiton bar in the bottom right hand corner. Google released the Nexus 7 and as more devices with smaller screens came out this tablet UI seemed less intuitive. Google went the way of IOS and made Android the same across all devices with a phablet UI in Android 4.2. Tablet UI has been completely removed from source which makes it pretty difficult to get it back. Developer "Exlam" has released an XPosed Module that will allow you to enable the Tablet UI on your Android tablet. The module will bring you a fully working system bar, notification and quick settings pop up, ime switcher, and supported immersive mode and transparency. This should work on most AOSP vanilla roms, but may not work on anything that deviates from that. Head to the link below for the download.
