[UPDATED RELEASE] Zinc V2.1.2 Fascinate Rom (A Deodexed Elements Series Release)

This rom is what I am calling a "zip rom" (non AOSP) Rom with some AOSP Apps. Once again this rom is not a built from source rom (AOSP), it was built from a ota.zip, (hence the phrase "ZIP ROM").*

Most TouchWiz applications have been removed, except the ones kept in order to keep the Rom stable. Apk files have been deodexed, optipng, zipaligned and some apps are built from source. Shutdown animation was changed and a few ringtones were added.

Apps removed:*
A lot!*
Apps were placed in /sdcard/extras/ folder:
Memo.apk
com.androidapps.spare_parts.apk
puzzle_lock.apk
TATLiveWallpapersOceanWave.apk
VoiceRecorder.apk

Thanks to all for the following below:
JT1134 for providing a solid base to work from (Clean D101 Base)
Gallery3d AOSP*
Adwlauncher - Anderweb
Launcher Pro Plus- Federico-http://www.launcherpro.com/
Superuser - Chainsdd
2.1 lockscreen - Wasupwithuman
file manager-Cyanogen
Ported Blackmod theme BY: Stanrc [MM Theme] Blackmod for Fascinate - CyanogenMod Forum themed version)
And everyone else that made it possible.

This was my first "Zip Rom" since I am a fan of AOSP Roms, I do not have a huge amount of experience making a rom like this (zip rom). I have recently been working on my other Rom named "Cadmium" which is a Droid AOSP Rom. (Completed, but not publicly released yet)*

UPDATE LATEST VERSION
***Version 2.1.2 Change log***
Changed Rom naming convention so it fits the Android OS version. (preparing for Froyo)
Updated boot sound.
Added back default live wallpaper (ocean)
removed some /sdcard/extras
changed to the default mms.apk (for text messaging)
removed quadrant (get it from the market)
Added PowerAMP_1.0_build_68.apk to /sdcard/extras
Boot animation is loaded when using a custom kernel. (Recommend JT1134 or Birdman's latest kernels!) Go to kernel section to get them.

I will check this out, any idea if this can be installed over a voodoo kernel or not?

I flashed the themed rom directly over jt's voodoo kernel v.02 1200mhz and it works great, just took about 4 mins to boot the first time. it's very slick and i love having the dark status bar and blue battery. one suggestion is to make the unlock icon on the aosp lock screen blue as well, might look a little better.

I launched via Rom mngr/clockwork did not flush the cache and data..... looked like it went through cmnd sequence succesful but is now hung up on samsung startup logo for like 10 min? Any advice?

(sch-1500 rooted, superuser, lagfix... UNABLE to load the update since I erased the bloatwares)

No sure what you were running before.. I recommend wiping data cache but when i tested several times without out a "wipe data and cache" and it loaded fine. It does take a few minutes to load the first boot but not ten minutes. I would try to reload again.

Thanks for the speedy response! I got the succesful install from sd card, rebooted and yes after only a minute It started back up. As soon as I slid the unlock over i got flooded with a mess of Sorry! media and acore process Force close windows .... I occaisionally get a glimpse of the option to select tw launcher, ADW. launcher or Launcher pro.... but can't select anything... I did however force a shut down and saw a great android exit logo!?

**** OOOPs I erased cache and data via recovery mode not in clock work... i did it via clockwork and now Im loaded and functioning... thanks... cant wait to explore it!

<<<< Explored... ADW launcher prefered now as default. Runs and looks smooth... I was hoping that it would magically kick my GPS into to actually working! Still can't get navigation to locate me

#GPS# installed GPS Status from market, refreshed and downloaded gps assist in the apps settings and I sync up with GPS under a minute

[ROM RELEASE] Zinc V1.1 Fascinate Rom (A Deodexed Elements Series Release)

Go to first post for update.

http://www.droidforums.net/forum/sa...dexed-elements-series-release.html#post939486

Changes for V1.1

Replaced Elliots music app with stock music app. (fixed head phone jack issue)
Added back in Swype.apk
Added puzzle lock into /sdcard/extras directory
Removed ADW and launcher pro, since you can download it in the market. (credit to wickedbeav for the idea)
Added back visual voice mail to fix voice mail button on dialer.

So I'm new to all of this. My phone IS rooted and running Kernel 2.6.29 and ADW. I downloaded Zinc V1.1 zip file to my sd card. Went through ROM Manager and loaded it. Clicked Wipe Cache and rebooted through clockwork recovery. After the reboot, this is the message that appears:

--Install from package...
Finding update package...
Opening update package...
E:failed to verify whole-file signature
E:signature verification failed
Installation aborted.

What am I doing wrong?

Are you trying to install from the update.zip or the zinc zip? I only ask because I got similar messages when I tried to install the vzw update. I would try to clear cache n data in CWmod again then be sure you are installing the zinc zip not the update zip... ?
