Zoom for video. Why is it so hard?

I love this phone. I feel like a real geek saying that but daaaaayyyyuuum!

But I have to ask, with the different camera apps allowing for more than stock digital zoom, and the blackberry able to do it, why is it there is no app for a zoom to be used with video recording????

Is it that much different or more difficult in the stand point of coding? hell, I'd be happy if the video recorder recorded in "real time" zoom, but alas, it's worse than real life.

Anyone shed any light on this? I'd pay for an app that allowed one to zoom DURING recording, but if not, I'd even pay for one that allowed you to zoom first then record.

No idea but it could be a hardware limitation, something lacking in the API/SDK, or something that just hasn't occurred to any of the developers. I suppose since it is all digital zoom (i.e. cropping, basically) that it does seem like it could be something resolved in code.
