Earpiece speaker crackling sound

Thanks, bryantjopplin. Turn the "enhanced" privacy does help the quality of voice call a lot.

I still have that "crackling" sound too, however, but a lighter degree.

I just got a GNEX and noticed I too have that annoying crackle or I call it a rattle sound in the earpiece. If I turn the volume down it goes away but I shouldnt have to do that.

Don't know if its the same symptom but when I got my Droid X it had a speaker that rattled kinda like a blown speaker. I did a search and found that many had the same issue and fixed it by blowing some compressed air in the speaker. It worked like a charm and never had the issue again.
