I noticed that on GB the icon for Wifi/3G and the bars for my network signal are now blue....but sometimes they are white...the icon background is grey and when the bars fill up it fills up blue, but sometimes it fills up white instead...I've only noticed the white bars at work where you have to go to the browser and ask permission to get onto wifi.....any thoughts....

I'm not 100% on this but I think its like white when it has a signal but not "locked on" and blue when it is "lock on". In battery saver mode when mines been sitting a while and I turn it on the bars and 3g emblem are white then turn blue in a few sec.

end of line...

that's what I kinda thought initially... thanks for confirming it though!

Mine does the same thing, so I guess it's normal. Kind neat discovering all the little changes in GB vs. Froyo.

It is white when you have no data connection, blue when you do

So your saying you are surfing the internet with white icons or they turn blue when you wake up the phone?

Not true, the icon will flash the up arrow but not receive a signal, I noticed this when I updated to gb before I activated phone it was white and trying to transmit, soon as I activated the down arrow flashed and it all turned blue
Edit: on a final note, if you are on wireless disable it, watch the icons turn white until it gets 3g signal then turn blue

I thought it was white when it isn't. connected to Google servers and blue when it is.

Maybe it is, if you can somehow connect to open internet without your phone connecting to google servers you can test that
Edit: not trying to be sarcastic, if you can prove that let me know
Edit 2: you are right http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=970098
