AT&T Samsung Galaxy S7
My 10 year old is spazing at the moment.

Apparently his samsung samsung galaxy 4 7.0 is stuck on 5% charge and refuses to charge any further. Tried several different putlets and usb chargers.

No luck. Charging port on tablet seems fine.

I am lost as a ball in high weeds.

Are you trying to charge with it on or off? Have you tried to power down then charge? Shut down then try after it has been off for a while. If it "thinks" its hot it may not charge.

I am going to remove battery then replace.....lets see if that helps.

Omg you are an angel!!!!!!

Battery was showing only 5%.

Turned tablet off, then inserted charger.

Screen popped up showing 100% charge!!!!!!!!

What?????

Powered it back on and it is fully charged.

How crazy is that? It has been on charger all day long and never showed more than 5%.

You are my HERO!!!!!

See Mustang, he actually provided helpfull information. I hope you step on a lego tonight. =P

That could still be a sign of a failing battery. I would keep an eye on it... Could also be just a hiccup in the system.

Get a battery, it's cheaper than a new phone, and another issue.

Ok great. I just so happened to watch a youtube video on proper removal of the battery. Looked pretty straight forward. The lonest time was getting the back cover off. He used some kind of tool. I will have to hunt down something similar.

While the battery is out buff the contacts on the battery and where they contact in the phone with a pencil eraser. Over time corrosion can build up and even a slight amount can wreak havoc on what the phone is seeing, battery wise. It can be way off on the charge, way off on the temperature and/or way off on the voltage. , thus why showing only 5% because it calculates percentage based on voltage.
