I am trying to root my droid 2 using the gingerbreak.apk app and everytime I try it once I press the root this device button it never gets past where it says 'rooting device, this may take a few minutes'
I am new to this so I figure I just don't know what I'm doing, any help?

If your on gingerbread (Android system 2.3) you can't use am app like gingerbreak... You'll need to use the one click method mentioned above

We have nothing to fear but running out of beer

Will it. Work without a computer? I have a laptop but no internet? And if not is there any way to root without a computer aside from gingerbreak?

with out a computer... i don't think there is a way to root the newer versions of gingerbread with out one...
but it's ok... you don't need internet on your laptop... you can download the files on to your phone... then transfer then to your laptop... then root from there

Forgive me for asking, like I said I'm new to all this, but how do I do it?
