Screen brightness

I have the power widget brightness set to like the second lowest brightness setting. My problem is whenever I open an app/game the brightness goes higher than the setting.

Why this is a problem is I'm trying to save energy from battery and it kinda makes it pointless when the games just re adjust the brightness to high.

I've almost had my Droid for a year and always have the screen brightness setting at 'auto'. I know this is not really the answer you were looking for, but it's worked for me.
