Setting MX Player as Default

I cleared defaults under settings in the mx player. But I don't always get asked what player to open with, or asked to always use a particular app.

If it impossible to have mx player always be the go to app?

The only way I am aware of to set a default app is when performing an action when prompted for which app to use. There is a spot in Settings to see all Defaults Apps & which actions they are set as default (and I think you can clear the default there also), but I don't think you can pick a default anywhere like you can with Win 10. I think you need to open a file type that the MX Player would open and then when prompted with the Just Once / Always option select always. There might be another way, but I am not aware of it.
