USB DRIVER Fail

Every time I plug my Droid 2 global into my PC I get a pop up "motorola driver installation 4.6"

With the options repair installation or remove. No mater what I do it keeps on popping up. I tried to remove the driver and reinstall. I also downloaded the latest driver and still get the pop up. If i then try to install form the pop up it says unable to install because there is a newer version installed. What is wrong?

This is on a windows xp home service pack 3 PC.

Can you access the SD card?
Is it just a message or does it prevent contact?
The problem?
Running an 11 year old OS...

I had issues at one point too and l made sure permissions were set to install through the device manager. That fixed my issue.
