Current Phone Model
Motorola Turbo 2
Tried 5g and got 620mbs per second download
An iPhone sent a picture to my android still took a minute 5g only seems good for web

Texting needs to be native internet between iphone and android

Thoughts?

Verizon has been rolling out it's 5G to everyone (almost everyone), but it's not the super high speed mmWave 5G that you get in some large cities.

Verizon announces its nationwide 5G network

But to answer when will you get it specifically.....no one here knows that, only your carrier can answer that specifically.

5G is already available, depending on where you live. But even if 5G coverage is available in your neck of the woods, it's still not fully evolved into the mobility-altering experience its advocates have promised. At least, not yet.

it is already available but not widespread yet

Pretty much. I would say in a good two years, it should be pretty much everywhere. Maybe three because of Covid. All the major phone networks here (Fido, Rogers, etc) are on it and soon it's going to be just a normal thing. So long story short . . . have a little patience :) Plus save up or get ready to get a payday loan as it will be pricey :)

Only 5uw seems to be any benefit to speed and nationwide 5g seems no better than 4g.

Hope they make it better

Whenever I am in 5g my phone works worse than 4g/lte unless I am in 5g uw
My wife has an iphone 12 she had to change it so it only was in 4g lte as 5g nationwide seems to need a lot of improvement and seems worse that 4g/lte in my area but 5g uw is very fast and much better

U have heard that mms messages still go over 3g so 4g and 5g don't help with multimedia text messages yet. They should find a way to get them in 4 and 5g

You need chat (RCS) on both ends for MMS to be data based, it can be enabled on most devices but it's carrier dependant.

I get around 20mbps on a terrible T-Mobile 4G signal and 150mbps on a good one so I see no reason to worry about 5G even though it's available all over the city I live in.

Most people I text are on iphones so I don't turn in rcs android google as I think the iphones based texts wouldn't use rcs or would they?
