OK... my gmail account is there but it won't check the email.

Did u go into your phones (not gmail) settings - accounts & sync - if gmail is listed click on it & make sure "Sync gmail" is checkmarked.

Checked that and there wasn't even an option... downloaded and now its there but...fc.

Interesting, what I would try (this may seem a bit reduntant) but, first uninstall the gmail u have now, reboot your phone, after rebooting, run the "fix permissions" command in the UD settings commands, soon as its done running that command, reboot your phone again, then go to the market & install gmail again (if it were me i would reboot yet again before trying it) & try to use gmail again.

Have u tried going into manage apps and go under gmail and clear data, I had this problem before, cleared data and make sure gmail is sync is checked and it should work
