battery won't charge and has a ?

My motorola droid will not charge. It has a ? on the battery icon and keeps saying connect charger even though it already is connected. Any ideas. I've already taken the battery out.

seems one of 3 things:
1. the phones battery sensor is screwed up
2. the charger youre using isnt a motorola charger
3. the battery youre using isnt a motorola battery
im thinking its #1, but for all 3 a trip to the vzw store should fix it
