Browser History Won't Clear

I can't get the browser cache and history to clear.

Before responding with the instructions below, I've already done this and it has no effect. When I hit the back button (the physical back button on the bottom of the phone) it still brings me to all of the pages I've visited prior to clearing the browser history and cache.

Here is what I've tried:
Click on "Browser" at the bottom of the home page.
Click on the physical "Settings" button on the bottom of the phone.
Click on "More" button.
Scroll down to "Settings" and click.
Scroll down to "Privacy Settings" section.
Click "Clear cache" and then click "OK".
Click "Clear history" and then click "OK".
Click "Clear all cookie data" and then click "OK".
Click "Clear form data" and then click "OK".

This resulted in NOT clearing any browser history or cache.

Then I tried:
Going to the Google Home page.
Clicking on the "Settings" button at the bottom of the browser beneath "Sign In".
Turned off "Search History".
Turned off "Save Recent Locations".
Turned off "Allow use of device location".

This did not help either.

I then tried going to:
Click the physical "Settings" button on the bottom of the phone.
Click "Settings" button on screen.
Scroll down to "Applications" and click.
Click "Manage applications".
But, "Browser" is not there so I can't try to clear the data that way either.

All you uber geeks out there have any ideas?

If you are rooted I would use Cachemate. Quick App Clean Cache is a nice program but you have to clean each cache manually. Cachemate lets clean them all with one click, and you can set it up to clean at a certain time.

As far as Browsers SkyFire seems great...
I never liked it on my W/M phone but on Android it smooth and quick.

After you clear browser history and cache Go to
Settings /Applications / Manage Apps / Browser and click on Force Stop.
Once I did this I was not able to use the physical Back button to go back to previously viewed web pages.

I second the use of Dolphin HD. Downloaded it and haven't looked back. It's free too!

dolphin is the ****. much better than stock to me and it always clears history every time you exit. (unless you tell it not to)
