get a photo editing program (photoshop is the best IMO) create a blank .png file with the dimensions you need (i think icons are 72x72 but double check me on that) then go at it. There are TONS of icons online, so i would start there before you go buying programs you may not need. just use google and type (for instance) "phone icon" and you will get a TON of results, download the .png file, and use LP to replace the icon.
Visit on your phone, download whatever you like, and then longpress the icon spot and chose custom icon. Chose the icon from your gallery and you're done.

From your phone's browswer, longpress the icon and then chose save image (may have to scroll to find it) It saves to a download folder on your SD card.
I dont have an X, but this is what I use to change/edit LP(any) icons. GIMP - The GNU Image Manipulation Program (free). After you edit the icon on the PC, send them to your SD. Follow the previous post on how to apply them. Heres some more icons : Icon Search Engine | Iconfinder . Hope this will help.
