ebuddy 1.7.0 incoming MS Live Messenger buddy requests failing

I received an MSN buddy request, via ebuddy. It is from a federated domain (the company is using OCS). I accepted,but I received this error:

ERROR!
MSN: <my hotmail address>
Email domain is IM federated contact liveid <[email protected]> is federated domain

Do I need to accept the request through MSN?
