going back to first android phone "htc dream"

I have a rooted htc dream with cm7 rom to android 2.2. Since its the first android phone, running 2.2 is a real battle. So I performed ezterry 14 mb ram hack and it really improved its processing. Now is there any other way through which I can increase its processing speed?
