Are you talking about selecting a group to send the text to from contacts? If so, you can't from the stock messaging app. If you're talking about sending a text as a group so that each recipient can reply to the group you send it as a MMS instead of "individual text". In the stock messaging app you can select that option on the fly. Other texting apps you have to select in settings. Textra handled group pretty well.
