It looks like HTC may not be done branching out into alternative versions of the HTC One M8. Last week we shared news regarding the special Sprint exclusive Harmon Kardon Edition of the device. Now it looks like HTC could be following Samsung's lead by offering a separate premium version of the HTC One M8, which will be called The M8 Prime.

Here are the rumored specs, which just leaked out today:

  • 5.5-inch QHD (2560 x 1440) display
  • Qualcomm Snapdragon 805 (APQ8084)
  • 3 GB of RAM
  • 16GB or 32GB of internal storage
  • Qualcomm’s newest MDM9x35 multimode modem (built on the 20 nm technology - supports global carrier aggregation deployments and download speeds of 300 Mbps)
  • Duo Camera setup with 5MP Ultra Pixel main camera & secondary rear lens of 18MP (this is odd?)
Supposedly, this mythical creature will come bounding out of fantasy-land in September of this year. If it is real, it seems like the OEMs are starting to breakup their best products into a "better" and "best" category, with limited supplies of the later. Sound off and let us know what you think of this strange new trend.

Sounds like the galaxy S and the galaxy Note model, good to see. Hopefully HTC includes some ttype of reason to take it over the note. I can't really see a MAX2 as a must have.
