Netflix & The HD Dock

Does anyone know how to use the remote control that comes with the HD dock for fast forward and rewind etc? I try the fast forward and reverse buttons but that just launches the music player. Or does anyone have a work around for this? It lets you scroll up and down netflix selections, but not right or left or make a selection... any help appreciated.
