Nokia charger to mini usb

Hi,

My charger from HTC Tattoo broke. Then I thought of turning one of my old nokia chargers int a mini usb charger.

My Original power supply:
-Output: 5V --- 1A

My nokia charger:
-Output: 5V --- 880mA

I cut the cable from nokia charger and also cut the mini usb cable, then I connected the 5v wire from nokia to the red wire from miniUsb and GND from nokia to black wire from miniUsb.

When I plug the mobile phone nothing happens. What am I doing wrong?

The USB port has to be able to communicate with something. I am assuming you have the old pin plug charger from Nokia.
