You need to root prior to using ROM manager. Doesnt look like unlocking the bootloader is enough. The app errors when running privelage command.

Backed myself up earlier today as well. Had to delete that system file though. Renaming it didn't help.

only tried it once, just tried it and it's back to stock recovery

Which is why I made this thread. :D Just go into Root Explorer, go to System>recovery-from-boot.p and change it to "1recovery-from-boot.p" or delete it and you should now have CWM permanently.

I renamed it and it's working perfect. Tested it 5 times before posting.

Added to the OP. I knew I forgot something.

Haha, no worries. Your thread made we want to get ROOT done now. Ive been unlocked waiting for the Recovery just haven't rooted. I used Droid Life instructions. I pushed the su.zip to /sdcard/ with adb and flashed the recovery with fastboot. Then booted into recovery and flashed the su.zip. Then Downloaded ROM manager, flashed recovery and am backing up now!

I renamed the file by adding .bak on the end and also removed all permissions. I have no issues keeping cwm recovery on my nex. Just a suggestion rather than adding a 1 to it. I'm sure both will work. Just remove permissions from that is you have an issue. If you boot and stock recovery is there reflash cwm recovery before renaming and changing permission again
