DX2 External Microphone?

Is it possible to use an external microphone with the Droid X2. I have a litter of adapters and microphones from my iPhone days but none of them seem to work with the Droid X2. Any ideas?

I believe you'd need USB host controller and the appropriate drivers for the external microphone. Possible? Yes! Probable? I'm not so sure.
I know I'd like to be able to use a USB mic for recording song ideas.
