Several users have reported that their Nexus 5 bug which creates abnormally high CPU usage and battery drain. Apparently, it's related to the camera app in some way. For some reason certain apps are trying to access the camera continuously even when not in use. This is causing the steep overhead problem. Luckily, Google has acknowledged the issue and is already working on a fix, which they will push out pretty soon.

Here's a quote with a few more relevant details,

If you’re noticing battery issues and want to find out if your device is affected, you can check by heading on over to Settings > Battery and see if mm-qcamera-daemon is eating up your battery percentage. If you are affected, the only real solution at the moment is to simply reboot your device once you notice the battery draining. You could also try uninstalling third party apps which make use of your handset’s camera.

Sound off if you have experienced this issue. We will keep you informed as to when the update drops.
