I have a little experience with rooting, I rooted my old DROID2 and my friends HTC Incredible....But now i have the RAZR MAXX and 1. wasnt sure if it would be worth rooting it. 2.Will it hurt anything to root it and 3. Which is the best method to root if i decide to do so? Oh and i just remembered...If i root now what happens when ICS comes out? Thanks. PS-I know it says i signed up here over a year ago but i think i was only on here once since then, i never remember signing up so im still relatively new to the forums.

Welcome. I root everything I have: phones, tabs, microwave, etc :p but rooting is up to you. There is a pretty simple root method for th razr line. There are already several ICS ROMs out for the razr so don't worry about that. Also check out our device specific site Droid RAZR Forum - Motorola Droid RAZR Community

Welcome to Droid Forums!! Many people will tell you that you should root but like D-Xer said it is solely up to you, plenty of ways to enjoy a stock Android device. Research the stuff he mentioned and let us know if you have any questions along the way:biggrin:

I agree with both DX'er and JSM...root if you want and if you are happy with stock, rock it that way :)...

Good luck and if you have any questions, just ask!

Well.... i know i could get the wifi tether but can i change boot logo and animation as well like i could on droid2. And is there anyway to get caught with a rooted razr?

What do you mean caught with one?

I don't think they can unless you actually bring it in rooted. And as far as them knowing you are tethering, no. But for those who use a lot of data there is a possibility of it being throttled if you are in the top % of users.

Ok. Just makin sure. I definitely wouldn't be in top % i barely use it

Yup, you should be good to go then

Root will void your warranty, but there are always ways to unroot if need be.

Yea i know that from rooting my droid2....are there a lot of tools for the razr root as the droid2. Like changing boot logo & animation, text font, notification pulldown text editor?
