I can't believe that yesterday was Android's 10th Birthday and we didn't have a news story thread related to that.

Happy Belated Birthday Android!

I'm pretty sure the first Android phone I bought in 2010 was running FROYO and upgraded to Gingerbread shortly after buying it.

I believe that the Samsung Galaxy S3 was my first Android. I had several Blackberry phones before that. My Moto Razr V3 was on a Proprietary OS.

My first was the Moto X, in 2010. The OG Droid. Pretty heavy for it's size.

Was the first android phone in 2008, a T Mobile G1?
* disclaimer..I may be wrong

The Moto X was released in 2013 TxDoc. . The original Droid was around in 2010, that was my first phone. Wife and I decided to try Android since there was a buy one get one free sale for $99; on the original Droid.

So which phone got you guys started with android and which build?

Also which build was your favorite?

For me it was the OG Droid rocking 2.0

Favorite build was 2.1 because the build up and excitement. People spent hours on here talking and waiting for the update. Literally a hour would go by and we would be 4 -5 pages deep and posts, and it would continue.

Obviously 8.0-8.1 will be the best because it is a continual improvement.

My least favorite build was wither Lollipop or marshmallow because of all the bugs. Honeycomb and Ice Cream sandwich was on the mind but I actually like honeycomb. And ICS brought us face unlock and Google wallet served on the much anticipated Galaxy Nexus.

You're right, but we fixed that as your thread is now the news for that. Thanks for posting.

Correct call Sajo . It was just a Motorola Droid. I think that X slipped in as saved in dictionary and Swyped in and I missed it..

OG droid was my first android phone. I had just bought a LG slider phone of some kind and my wife brings home the OG that she upgraded to. I played with it for 5 minutes, went back to verizon, paid the restocking fee and bought the Droid. I remember thinking how "huge" the screen was. I still have that phone actually. Then on to the moto x. from there moved to the note series of phones. Now have the droid turbo 2. It's crazy to think how quickly things changed.

The first phone that I ran Android on was the HTC HD2. But technically I was dual booting Windows Mobile 6 off on internal memory and Android off the SD card.

The Droid 2 global was my first, I actually hated stupid android at first as I was a Crackberry addict. I remember being in the armament shop one day when a friend got the newer droid something or other and I was reading you could play emulators, snes, psx etc... I tried it on his phone and had the d2g the next day.

I later got the Motorola xoom tablet, I loved honeycomb, the tablet was amazing until my son dropped it in the bathtub and all of my children hid it from me, I managed to get another 3 weeks out of it before it broke completely.

10 years! wow that is insane. The first device I ever used Android on was actually the HTC Touch. It originally ran Windows Phone 6, but I hacked it to run the Myn's warm Donut Rom. I ended up ruining the HTC touch by flashing all sorts of different roms until I finally bricked it. From there I bought the Droid X. Those were the days!

I'm guessing that is where the X in your username came from.

You are absolutely right. The Droid X was the first phone that I covered on my channel.
