The HTC Desire Eye was just officially revealed at HTC's big press event for today. Here's an official spec breakdown, plus a video teaser of the device above,
  • 2.3GHz quad-core Snapdragon 801 chipset
  • 5.2-inch full HD display
  • 2GB of RAM
  • 16GB of internal storage and microSDXC support
  • Front-facing 13-megapixel camera with wide-angle lens and dual-LED flashes - 22 millimeter SLR equivalent
  • Front-facing 13-megapixel camera with wide-angle lens and dual-LED flashes - 28 millimeter SLR equivalent
  • Stereo BoomSound speakers
  • Three microphones
  • 2,400 mAh battery
  • Android 4.4.4 KitKat
  • Zero Gap Construction
Even though the plastic in the device is a departure from HTC's usual metallic case designs, it's actually a type of plastic that comes from a shock injection molding process, so it is meant to feel premium and be pretty durable. The phone has some interesting software add-ons as well. Here's a gander,
  1. Auto Selfie: Captures a selfie when you’re smiling and holding the camera still.
  2. Split Capture: Takes front and back images or videos either simultaneously or sequentially, so you can compose each shot separately.
  3. Crop-Me-In: This mode allows the user to capture a selfie and automatically remove the background. The the rear camera will take a photo and allow the user to crop him or herself into that image.
  4. Face Fusion: This somewhat creepy but fun feature lets users capture photos of two different people and merge their facial features.
  5. Video Chat Control: Automatic face tracking in video chat keeps users’ faces at the center of each frame during video calls. This cool feature is accessible to third-party video chat apps, and screen sharing support has also been added to video chat.
  6. Photo Booth: This captures a series of photos with a look that is similar to an old photo booth strip.
For now it looks like the Desire Eye will be an AT&T exclusive. (Why does HTC keep doing this to themselves?) It will launch "in time for the holidays", but there's no word on exact dates or pricing. It's meant to be a step-down/more affordable option than the HTC One M8, so keep that in mind.

Overall it's a pretty impressive mid-range device. Share your thoughts in our dedicated section here: HTC Desire Eye Android Forums at DroidForums.net

Yeah... although the rear camera is pretty "stout" as well. This could just be a great phone for taking pics!
