I've tried searching and maybe i'm just trying the wrong words but is there a way to change the lock screen wallpaper to a picture from the gallery.

Long press on screen, choose the icon in the top left (I think) and choose "Lockscreen Gallery"

I think that's how it goes........I'm not running it right now. Trying to recall.

Did it work? I was trying to recall from a couple days ago when I had MIUI loaded.....

Yep, you were exactly right
