We should have expected nothing less really. Big Red's CDMA network has never made it easy to get an unlocked device going. The new Moto X Pure Edition is no exception. Apparently, folks who try to get a new Verizon account setup with the Moto X Pure Edition are having an impossible time of it.

Of course, Verizon doesn't want to lose any potential new customers, so they are working on a fix. It should be ready by September 18th. The speculation is that Verizon dragged their feet on adding IMEIs to their database.

To be clear, if you are already on Verizon, then getting the Moto X Pure Edition working should be a snap. You just need to grab the nano-SIM card from an existing Verizon plan and pop it in the new Moto X Pure Edition to get it going. As we previously stated, this problem is only for NEW accounts with the phone.

Another Moto phone and same results as the Nexus 6.

The fix is to get off Verizon. Stop giving them your money. If there is another carrier in the area, even if the service isn't as good, switch.

This is funny after they just came out recently and said they were making it easier to bring an unlocked iphone and others to the network. Guess they missed one...
