Selling unlimited data plan

Now that I think about it, I recall that when I moved 14 years ago and inquired about getting a new number, the Verizon rep advised me to keep my old number because I was on such a good plan at the time and that he wouldn't be able to match it.

Number != plan

You can request a number change due to quite a few reasons and it has no effect on your contract or plan.
They might charge for a number change if the reason is frivolous but they do not enforce a new contract.

You are exactly correct. I was going to post this but read your reply first.....a simple phone number change will not extend your CED.
