Spoke with the VZW store here in town today - a small town I work in and they have 30 units for tomorrow already. They told me that the 1 year plan is obviously possible, but not unless your are up for renewal right now. Verizon waiving your upgrade if you are up by December 31st, 2010 only applies if you sign a new 2 year agreement. The 1 year cost would be $269 after the $100 mail in rebate debit card they send you. Sadly I am up on 8/10 so I would have to wait a month or just suck up the 2 year (which I never do) and just pay full price for a new phone down the road and sell the Droid X.
