2.1 update problem - possible brick

Try booting into safe mode and see if you have any luck.

I'd say if you can't even get into safe mode after applying the update, something serious happened; and you'll most likely have to flash the phone back to factory defaults with a .sbf file and RSD Lite.

I had the same problem, do a factory reset, it fixes it. No worries your droid is not bricked.


Edit: You do the factory reset by holding x while you turn it on and then hold volume up and the camera button, it will be an option.

I was just wondering if my two brothers in droiderdom that were having problems manually updating got squared away. Anybody know?

Im having the exact same issue. I got the ota notification and pressed update now and the phone keeps going through the boot animation over and over again???

Any ideas

Same problem here. I can't even seem to get it to factory reset. I can't turn it off, or anything.

Someone please help.

btw, I never had to do a reset before, so I am not sure how long to hold buttons, release etc... nothing seems to work.

Rip out the battery and put it back in.
Hold the power button and "x".
Hold the Volume Up button and press the camera button fully down and then halfway down.
Hit factory reset.
If this didn't solve your problem, then you'll have to use RSD-Lite to flash back to stock.
